Abstract
Diploma thesis interest in prognosis and prediction of growth rotation from the lateral cephalogram. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical part. In the first part of my work, I focus on the anatomy of the oral cavity, macroscopic and microscopic tooth construction, analysis of two basic tooth types, and detailed description of individual teeth. I was working with the X-ray imaging methods analysis, which is used in dentistry and I also concentrate on extra-oral imaging functions that I‘ve used to get source image data for my work. The telerentgenograms that were used in the created application and with which I worked in post-processing, were made on the ORTHOPHOS XG5 / CEPH X-ray instrument, which is also described in my final thesis. The result of this work is a sophisticated application that enables advanced cephalometric analysis of telerentgen skull images, including a prediction model of growth jaw rotation, and orthodontic treatment. The application was created in the MATLAB development environment, where the user interface was also implemented. The prediction model includes growth in extreme rotations. The comparison of changes during orthodontic treatment and growth analysis is also a part of the thesis. The application is suitable for use in orthodontic surgery, where it can be used to specify the development of orthodontic treatment. The whole application wass tested on the clinical data which I obtained from patients with consent in connection of the EU Data Protection Regulation called GDPR.
