Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to introduce renewable energy sources and their positions on energy policy. Further evaluation of their position in the EU, specifically in three member states with different geographical location and natural conditions and also with Czech Republic. The theoretical part presents the renewable energy sources, namely the individual, as well as an introduction to energy policy and its history. Renewable energy sources play an important role in energy policy. There is introduction of the use of renewable energy in the EU overall in practical part. There are reported results of the use of renewable energy and also future goals in this area. More specifically there is described the use of renewable sources in three member states, namely in Portugal, Finland and Germany. There is analysed Czech Republic in the last practical part and the use of renewable energy before entry to EU (before 2004) and after joining the EU (after 2004). There is specified use of renewable resources. In conclusion there are results of the investigations and also recommendations in this area.
