Abstract

The bachelor thesis deal with detection and spectrometry of gamma rays. In the first part are listed the properties of gamma rays and description of the intreractions of gamma rays with matter. It is followed by a principle of scintillation and semiconductor detectors, formation and structure of the scintillation spectrum and physical parameters of gamma detector, such as energy resolution, detection efficiency and dead time. The practical part contain energy calibration with radionuclide standards, measurement of thermal stability of the photomultiplier, influence of fatigue effect and measure geometry to position of photopeek. Further work includes interpretations of spektra of the individual radionuclides, measurement of radionuclide purity of technetium eluate and measurement induced radioactivity in homogenizing filter from 20 MeV irradiator.
