Abstract

This diploma thesis addresses the issue of internal emergency planning in a facility handling hazardous chemical substances. The theoretical part defines the basic terminology, characterizes hazardous substances and the risks of major accidents, summarizes selected historical industrial accidents, and describes the development of the European and Czech legal framework for major accident prevention. The practical part focuses on the company CS CABOT, spol. s r. o., where the need to update the existing internal emergency plan is assessed. The assessment is carried out using a Gap analysis. Based on the identified differences, areas requiring modification are determined. The outcome of the thesis is a proposal for updating selected parts of the internal emergency plan.
