Abstract

Theme of the diploma thesis is „Reducing of the Democratic Deficit in the European Union After the Lisbon Treaty Adoption“. It describes in detail the development of the term democratic deficit in the historical context and thus discoveres its origins and circumstances of ist birth as well. Thesis consist of five main chaptures, including introduction, analyses of the topic in three main chaptures, and finishes with fifth conclusion chapture, which gives the reader final assessment. Post-lisbon period composes the essential part of the thesis, which evaluates gains of the Lisbon Treaty adoption in enhancement of the european democracy and analyses the effectiveness of newly introduced mechanisms, which were implemented into the EU functioning in order to deepen the democratic bases.
