Abstract

In the thesis submitted the overview of the measures taken against the uncontrolled mine gas surface emissions has been compiled. The measures are focused on drilling of the surface gas drainage boreholes using the best practice. The key part of the thesis is the description and requirements on the active gas drainage system – its location, machinery, safety equipment, evaluation of its efficiency and the potential usage of the combustible part of the mine gas – i. e. methane. The final part of the thesis contains the brief comparison of the solutions used in Ostrava-Karviná Coal District with those applied abroad. The environmental impacts and economic assessment of the active mine gas drainage from the areas of the closed coal mines are evaluated as well.
