Abstract

The main goal of the dissertation was to design a methodology that will effectively integrate and evaluate a comprehensive set of the latest logistics trends and megatrends into the existing maturity model of logistics processes through the development and integration of a special dimension of logistics trends. Maturity models are an extended tool for improving logistics processes in industrial companies. Over time, however, they gradually become obsolete because they do not capture emerging logistics megatrends and trends. The frequency of logistics trends in the current turbulent business environment is increasing significantly, or there are fundamental changes in their significance over time. This problem can be solved by constantly updating existing maturity models or by creating specialized maturity models dedicated to specific megatrends or trends. The first option makes it very difficult to compare the development of the logistics processes improvement over time. The second leads to a significant increase in administration associated with the continuous improvement of a wide range of logistics processes. For this reason, the dissertation proposes the development of a special dimension of logistics trends, which affects not only selected logistics megatrends and trends, but also provides a comprehensive view of the current rapid changes in a turbulent business environment. The incorporation of this dimension into the current maturity model thus makes it possible to maintain the continuity of the long-term evaluation of the logistics processes level and at the same time to build competitive logistics corresponding to the latest trends. The proposed Methodology for integrating logistics trends into the logistics process maturity model includes seven phases: (1) Build an expert team; (2) Analyse the parameters of the logistics process maturity model used; (3) Design the logistics trend dimension structure; (4) Determine input data of the logistics trends dimension; (5) Determine the logistics trends maturity and analysis of the obtained results; (6) Determine priorities for the action plan and (7) Integrate the logistics trends dimension into the logistics processes maturity model. Due to the uncertain development of logistics trends, the methodology is based on the Stochastic Multicriteria Acceptability Analysis (SMAA). The specification of individual phases of the methodology and their verification took place in the form of a model case study from the automotive industry.
