Abstract
This work is focused on evaluating the state of the cadastral territories of Jenišov, Tašovice and Hory near Karlovy Vary, a terrain historically affected by brown coal deep-mining. The brown coal mining in Sokolov area at these cadastral territories started in 18th century. Most of the territory of Jenišov, Tašovice and Hory near Karlovy Vary was then and still today is undermined. Nowadays, the mining is already a history, but the remains of it still accompany the landscape up to now, in the form of old mine works and undermined areas.
The first part of this thesis focuses on identification of the particular known or less known historical collieries and mine workings in the studied area and on their evaluation. The above-mentioned information shows that even in the present time, there are risk areas in these territories, which need to be technically secured in the future, according to valid Czech laws and the legislation of the Czech Mining Authority.
In the final part of this work, the context of old mine works is addressed with relation to spatial development of the communities and their proposals for solutions that could change the attitude of professionals and even general public on the topic of old mine workings.
