Abstract

The content of this thesis is evaluation of different kinds of molding sands and their tendency to create tension defects of the surface called veining defects. In another part are described cooling effects of different kinds of molding sands. This thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. In theoretical part of this thesis is described problem with thermal expansion of silica sands and their influence to create veining defects and methods of their elimination. In another part are described deffects related to cooling effects of molding sands. Practical part of this thesis describes the design methodology for assessing the occurrence of veining on the surface of the cylindrical surfaces of castings and the evaluation of the individual types of silica sand with different content of binder on the emergence of these defects from the tension. The second part of the practical part is dedicated to evaluation cooling effects of different kinds of molding sands with additives bind by different kinds of binder systems.
