Role Evropského parlamentu v EU

Abstract

Evropský parlament (EP) je přímo volená parlamentní instituce Evropské unie (EU). Má 754 členů a je to klíčová instituce EU. Parlament hlavně reprezentuje zájmy občanů EU. Postupné zavádění nových smluv změnilo roli EP. Nejnovější je Lisabonská smlouva, která vstoupila v platnost 1. prosince 2009. Cílem bakalářské práce je charakterizovat vývoj Evropského parlamentu do současnosti a také popsat budoucnost této instituce, strukturu a fungování Parlamentu. Praktická část bakalářské práce se věnuje vztahu mezi EU a Českou republikou, ale také analyzuje volby do Evropského parlamentu v roce 2009. Líčí jejich průběh, volební účast, výsledky a uvádí zvolené europoslance a popisuje jejich působnost v EU.

The European Parliament (EP) is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union (EU). It has 754 members and it is a key institution of the EU. The Parliament mainly represents the citizen of the EU. Successive EU treaties have enhanced the EP’ role. The newest one is Lisbon Treaty, which took effect on December 1, 2009. The aim of bachelor’s thesis is to characterize development of the European Parliament to present and also describe future of this institution, structure and functioning of the Parliament. Practical part of bachelor’s thesis discusses the relationship between the EU and the Czech Republic, but also analyzes the European Parliament elections in 2009. Describes course, turnout, results and presents selected members of EP and describes their activity in the EU.
