Abstract

The objective of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of membership in the European Union and its involvement in the internal market based on the assessment of selected economic and non-economic strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with brexite. The partial aim of the thesis is to explain the basic concepts of the functioning of the internal market and its advantages for the members of the European Union. The second part of the thesis is a description of the success stories involved in the integration of the UK into European integration. In the first part, using the description method, the basic rules for the functioning of the internal market, together with the instruments for creating the market, are set out. The next part is dedicated to the membership of the UK in the European Union, including a brief history, comparative referendums in Britain, and Britain's status within the European institutions. The last part includes a SWOT analysis of the UK's departure from the European Union and an appreciation of the advantages and disadvantages of the European Union's internal market for the UK. The work is processed based on deduction, synthesis, comparison and SWOT analysis.
