Abstract

The intention was to create a functional, in practice applicable web application for scheduling shifts. This application is suitable for small to medium sized businesses. At the same time the goal was to create a text that describes the creation of the application and can serve other developers as a methodical process. The work consists of six chapters; the beginning is the initial presentation of the project work, the next part deals with theoretical solutions for creating applications. Further there is analysis that contains the desired properties and attributes of the web application. The fourth chapter is devoted to the design and implementation of the web application and at the conclusion of the evaluation work there is the realized solution. The result is a functional application for scheduling shifts, with the majority of automated processes. Together with the practical part of the application there is part of this work containing methodical process of creating this type of application. In the next step, this application will be presented in the company that participated in its creation and then the plan is to implement it in real operation. If its form proves itself in practice, the application will be available to all internet users who want to use a program such as this. The application will work independently, without the need for administrator interventions. Thanks to the application the processes of creating, planning and organizing shifts would be easier. The main benefit is the automation of processes related to planning shifts, saving time and also reducing errors caused by human error. The entire program was designed and implemented so as not to expect high demands on workers who will use it. Since the application offers innovative methods in this field, we believe that it will be used by other companies than the one for which it was primarily created.
