Abstract

The aim of this thesis is the introduction into the issue of prestressed masonry structures. There are presented prestressing and anchorage elements, types of the prestressing and the procedure of post tensioning. There is the comparison of the former and contemporary design process of the masonry strength. Diagnostic techniques and their brief description are introduced.

The main part of this thesis is the design of prestressing cable and anchoring plates according to previous and contemporary codes.

Numerical analysis of prestressed masonry wall is presented and introduction into FEM modelling of masonry structures is presented, too.
