Abstract

This dissertation deals with the design and optimization of the refractory ceramic lining of the blast furnace tap chute, which is a key part of the pig iron metallurgical production process. The main goal of the work was to improve the service life and operational reliability of the lining while simultaneously reducing maintenance and repair costs. The work focuses on the innovation of the cover system for drying and firing the lining, which has a fundamental effect on its mechanical and thermal insulation properties. The methodological procedure involved extensive laboratory tests that analyzed the properties of the materials used in the construction of the lining, including compressive strength, flexural strength, absorbency, porosity and thermal shock resistance. In the course of the research, various combinations of fireclay bricks, refractory concrete mixes and steel casings were tested, taking into account both their individual properties and their mutual interaction when exposed to high temperatures and dynamic loads. Based on the obtained results, a new comprehensive lining design was developed, which includes an optimized composition and structural arrangement of materials. This design was further subjected to numerical simulations and practical tests in blast furnace operating conditions to verify its effectiveness and durability. The result is a recommended refractory lining system that has demonstrated significant improvements in operational reliability and reduced maintenance costs. The dissertation also presents an innovative design of a lining heating and firing system designed to minimize energy requirements and reduce the time required to achieve optimal operating conditions. The work also includes specific recommendations for the installation and operation of the lining, which were formulated on the basis of empirical data and theoretical analyses.
