Abstract

The aimof this thesis is to analyse the new trends of contemporary Czech and foreign literature in the field of steel casting into moulds. Steel mills are constantly undergoing modernization in all sectorswith the increasing customer requirements for quality of steel. The biggest changes are in the use of refractory materials and casting powders. It was found that the quality of ingots affects suitably designed shape of the ingot, the casting conditions such as temperature and casting speed. Moreover, refractory ceramics and the correct choice of casting powders significantly affect the purity of the steel.
