Abstract
The objective of the thesis is to evaluate the limitations of public debt in the European Union and the comparison of methods of the limitations in certain European countries, namely in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first chapter are characterized the economic aspects of the public debt. The second chapter deals with the limitation of government debt in the legislation of the EU and the Czech Republic. In the third chapter are compared the methods of the limitations of public debt and the development of public debt in compared states.
