Surovinová vybavenost zemí OPEC a její vliv na ekonomický růst

Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate if natural resources can influence an economic growth. The first part of this thesis focuses on the characteristics of economic growth, natural resources and concepts associated with them. The second part contains the review of the empirical studies on the natural resources and economic growth. The third part deals with comparison of the selected indicators of OPEC countries. Using the data from the World Bank, OPEC and from statistical portal Statista Ltd. Its activity is to provide statistics, quantitative data etc. Comparison of the selected indicators showed that the natural resources primarily affects economic growth negatively. There are countries whose natural resources are enormous as well as economic growth of these countries. The reason is that these particular countries focuses on developing all areas of economy and not only on the area e.g. oil production and exports.
