Abstract

In this thesis we discuss the use of shells of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea Linn) as biosorbent possible to remove sulphates from water. For the purpose of the experiment were selected sorbent grain size fraction of>0.5 mm and 0.5-1 mm, and using an activating agent 0.1 a 1,0 mol-1 HCl. In the last chapter of the results, where in the course of this experiment reached while evaluation of the most effective sorbents. It also examined the dependence of some parameters on the adsorption capacity of the selected sorbent. As the most suitable grain size fraction of the sorbent showed 0.5-1 mm activated by 0.1 mol-1 HCl. The highest adsorption capacity was achieved after a period of 20 min at a pH of 5.0 6.0 = 88% (4.4 mg g-1).
