Abstract

The present thesis deals with the illegality and especially the economic impact of illegality when sharing data on the internet, particularly in cases of breach of copyright. Legislatively, this thesis is limited territorially to The Czech Republic and is therefore covered by Czech law with EU directives implemented. The first part of this work is descriptive and defines the technical base of data sharing on the internet and the internet itself from several viewpoints. The second part of this paper defines the legal base of sharing data representing works covered by copyright protection. The third part presents the case of breach of copyright data sharing in terms of its economic impact followed by the author's proposed solution. The main goal of this thesis is to propose a feasible, practical, and legal framework to improve handling copyrighted intellectual property that is simultaneously shareable on the internet on the basis of recognized imperfections in the current system. A secondary goal of this thesis is to define imperfections within the current system using an application of system analysis method.
