Abstract
Polarization of light plays a crucial role in methods of optical spectroscopy. In this thesis, there are presented the description of polarization phenomena in infrared and terahertz spectroscopy, the comparison of measurement methods of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and time-domain terahertz spectroscopy and the components used in measurement. We introduce three different models describing linear partial polarizers in infrared range and the models are compared by measurement results. We present the description of ellipsometric system with unideal components and the procedure of its calibration. The resulting calibration parameters are afterwards used during measurement of a sample.
