Abstract

The aim of my Bachelor Degree Thesis was creating of decorative cast-iron interior sculpture as a mask of Venetian carnival. A detailed studying of masks in course of history, history of carnival and looks of today masks took place before the whole design and cast making. I was inspired by nowadays form of Venetian carnival, yet final casting wasn´t created by copying of already existing mask. For approximation of colourfulness of festivals, besides essential cast-iron, I used other fully different materials. The first part of my thesis – theoretical - focuses on the evolution and form of masks of all kinds on all continents and on importance and history of carnival. The second part – practical - contrary to the first one, describes detailed process of production of final casting.
