Abstract

The content of this diploma Possibilities of influencing of the thermal expansion of silica sand to achieve a higher surface quality of castings is focused on influencing the characteristics of silica sands by admixtures of aluminosilicate-based sands. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains a description of the thermal expansion of materials, especially for sands used for the production of molding compounds in the foundry industry and defects that are formed on surface of the casting in directly related to this phenomenon. The practical part analyzes the data obtained from dilatometric measurements of specific sands selected for this work and the subsequent verification of these data in practice by foundry tests focused on specific defects.
