Abstract
This thesis is focused on the active role of bacteria of the genus Cupriavidus in reducing contamination of the mining environment arsenic and antimony on the site Poproč, which is situated in the southeastern part of the Slovak Republic. This area is a major source of contamination as a result of many years of mining operations and subsequent depositions careless mining material. The aim of this study is to verify the efficiency of bacterial strains Cupriavidus metallidurans and Cupriavidus oxalaticus process bioloužení. The principle of this process is the release of toxic metals from contaminated sediments and thus increase their mobility in the environment with a view to practical application in biotechnological processes. Results of laboratory experiments confirm the high potential of the bacterial strain Cupriavidus
