Abstract
Master thesis deals with the analysis of the use of fiber optic technology in transport applications. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the explanation of theoretical assumptions and processing of the research on the current state of the art in road and railway traffic. Based on the research, the direction of development of the interferometric sensor for the detection of trucks and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes was chosen. The experimental part describes the construction of the sensor, the specification of the frequency range, the measurement scheme and the practical measurements of the vehicles including the statistical data processing. Statistical analysis is based on the detection of a total of 443 vehicles with a success rate of 98.54%.
