Abstract
Optical and electronic spin injection into Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers (VCSEL) changes significantly their lasing properties. Spin-dependent photon emission in semiconductor QW active media, together with local optical anisotropies in laser cavity, promise the rise of future low-energy ultrafast optical communication. This master thesis is motivated by a need for advanced modeling tools to design future spin-lasers with desired dynamical properties. Semi-classical model of spin-lasers with local anisotropies is formulated and demonstrated on realistic design with multiple InGaAs/GaAsP QWs. Furthermore, a simple quantum-optical model of spin-laser is derived.
