Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of strength and brittle fracture charakteristics of weld mild steel using the method of penetration tests. The theoretical part describes principles of penetration testing and distribution of these tests. This part is followed by an experimental section, which contains an evaluation of the strength characteristics and determination of the transit temperature of base material and heat affected zone. Results of strength properties of penetration tests are the yield limit and strengh limit of base material and heat affected zone. Transit temperature presents pass between brittle fracture and ductile fracture investigated weld joints and identifies the critical points a possible unstable fracture.
