Abstract
This thesis deals with the use of Beckhoff programmable logic controllers for the purposes of
machine automation. The main objective of the thesis is the design and implementation of
a demonstration system that utilizes an industrial control system by Beckhoff with connected I/O
modules, sensors, and a drive. Using the TwinCAT 3 software environment, a control program is
created that ensures the control of a sequential application, the collection of time durations of
individual steps, and their subsequent processing and visualization. The obtained data are stored in
a database and used for evaluation of the application process and comparison of individual attempts.
The result is a fully functional model that demonstrates the capabilities of modern industrial control
systems based on PLCs, including the implementation of safety features, communication via the
EtherCAT bus, and integration of higher-level systems for data acquisition, storage, and visualization.
