The diploma thesis deals with the comparison of the possibilities of using thermal imaging and night vision goggles for finding people. The theoretical part describes the properties of the human eye, electromagnetic waves, photoelectric effect and thermal radiation. The most important laws and emissivity of thermal radiation here are described. This part also deals with the construction of a thermal camera, its parameters, generations and use. The principle and construction of the night vision devices, the generation of night vision devices and their use are also described here. The practical part deals with experimental testing of these devices using water mist, smoke and an intense heat source. The obtained experimental data are also evaluated here.
