Abstract

Thesis is focused on issues of hydroabrasive machining. Machinability of materials, mechanical properties and topography of surfaces were studied in particular. In the initial exploratory part of the thesis, current knowledge of technology of hydroabrasive machining is summarized. Further attention is given to theoretical models used to predict technological factors and quality of generated surface. After identification of some of shortcomings of existing methods, completely new methodology of evaluating the machinability determination was designed. This methodology is based on a comparison of a unit volume of removal of tested material and reference material. Modern software products were used for effective work with obtained data. For the processing of data obtained from measurements of surface topography was used software products FRT Mark III, SPIP 6.0.2 and Gwyddion 2.27. Software Statistica 10 and LabView was used for the analysis of the data and to create predictive models. Comprehensive concept of the thesis summarizes new information on machinability materials in abrasive jet machining, the influence of mechanical properties on machinability and surface topography created. The main output of the dissertation is to create prediction models for the prediction of surface topography parameters and prediction of kerf taper angle based on knowledge of technological factors
