Abstract

Fire protection of wooden perimeter walls is currently a recent issue, when the use of wood as a building material is still evolving. There are numbers of solutions to implement this protection so that it is as efficient as possible, but also economically undemanding. The first chapter focuses on wood as a material, its construction, physical and mechanical properties, chemical composition and durability. The second chapter deals with the behavior of wood at elevated temperatures and its burning. The third chapter summarizes the possibilities of fire protection of wooden perimeter walls. The fourth chapter is devoted to the division of perimeter wall testing methods within the Czech Republic and the EU. And the last fifth chapter describes a measurement that dealt with the spreading of the flame along the wooden perimeter walls treated with protective coatings.
