Abstract

The drift conduit is (with its length of 51,916 km and inner diameter 2.64 m) one of the most important parts of hydro-technical complex of a PVK company (Prague Water-Conduits and Sewerages). This duct is the longest underground water work in the Czech Republic and in Central Europe and brings the drinking water from Švihov-dam to Prague. The drift conduit has been designed and constructed as a combination of pressure and non-pressure closed system and built as tunnel mine-work subsequently equipped with a casting lining. In recent years there have been found ruptures (cracks) in the lining, that is to guarantee the tightness of the duct - which could in the future impair a smooth water supply. This thesis summarizes the basic information about this water-work and possible proposals of remediation technologies applicable to restrict or remove defects, discovered in breached concrete lining in the section within km 47.945-47.965
