Core - periphery struktura sítí

Abstract

This thesis focuses on the analysis of core-periphery structures in networks and the development of a web application for running core-periphery detection algorithms and visualizing their results. Networks are a useful model for many real-world systems, from technological and biological to social. Networks can contain a core-periphery structure that separates the network into a tightly interconnected core and loosely interconnected periphery. The developed web application allows the user to upload network data, visualize the network, run algorithms for detection of the core-periphery structure, and simulate epidemic models and network resilience. The thesis first introduces basic properties of networks, models for their generation, and epidemic models, followed by a description of various approaches to detecting core-periphery structure and presentation of the design and implementation of the web application. Finally, experiments are conducted on different algorithms and network types.
