Abstract
The task of the bachelor thesis was to describe the problem of hydrogen embrittlement in steels used in the automotive industry. The thesis explains concepts such as internal and external hydrogen embrittlement, mechanisms of its formation, hydrogen traps, susceptibility of steels to hydrogen embrittlement, etc. Further, the steels for automotive industry are characterized such as HSS, AHSS.
The practical part deals with the effect of hydrogen on 20MnB5 steel which was prepared by Q&P process. Electrolytic hydrogenation in H2SO4 solution using different concentrations of hydrogen poison KSCN was carried out. The tensile test results showed significant differences in the behaviour of the hydrogenated samples relative to the reference, non-hydrogenated sample, with the sample that was exposed at the highest KSCN concentration showing the greatest difference.
