Abstract
The diploma thesis deals with the fiber optic sensors while using a distributed system DSTS which works on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering. In the thesis the mechanical stress of the optical fiber is measured by this system. The main aim of the diploma thesis is an analysis of behavior of optical fibers and a measuring of Brillouin frequencies of different types of optical fibers at a variable mechanical stress. The analysis of recorded Brillouin frequencies will be assessed in the tables and graphs processed by the program Matlab. This analysis ascertains whether it is possible to use telecommunication optical fibers as a fiber optic sensor, and how their fixation influences the recorded Brillouin frequencies. If this assumption is confirmed, it will be possible to replace the more expensive special optical fibers with classic telecommunication fibers. Moreover, it will also be possible to utilize already used optical fibers saving thus energy required to produce new optical fibers. In other words, the reasons are both financial and ecological.
