Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the direct implementation of library functions for sending SQL statements to Microsoft SQL Server from Siemens PLCs.
The content of this work is research of the topics such as relational databases, TCP/IP protocol and its security. The communication between PLC and MS-SQL is handled by Tabular Data Stream (TDS) protocol. It is defined as an application-layer protocol of TCP/IP and is therefore implemented directly into the PLC according to the freely available documentation. Because there is already an existing example solution for PLCs, the primary target is to analyse possibilities of encryption of the data and subsequently implement such security to avoid traffic monitoring. There is also some space dedicated to setting the Microsoft SQL Server for access from PLC.
