Abstract

This thesis is focused on waste management from catering facilities by the method of anaerobic digestion. My thesis is devided into two parts. In the first part I focus on theory and the second part is practical. I deal with background research of the topic mentioned above in the theoretical part and I also focus on valid legislation in this field. Moreover I describe the process of anaerobic digestion and particular types of anaerobic fermenters. I describe the work which I was doing in the lab for 80 days in the practical part of the thesis. The aim of the practical part was primarily the waste management from catering facilities, concretely leftovers which I was taking from the canteen from the Technical University of Ostrava, in order to use it to test the anaerobic digestion and then to test the leftovers .One of the methods that I used was a discontinous test of production of biogas by using bottles in water bath and gas burettes. I achieved to determine the specific production of biogas and methane from the prepared substrate by using these methods. At the same time the production of biogas was being verified in two anaerobic reactors devided by reactionary temperatures.
