Abstract

The thesis deals with high availability technologies for increasing the reliability of the database system. In the first part we will get acquainted with current trends in high availability across database systems and then evaluate all elements within the IT infrastructure that must be part of reliable and available systems. The aim of the thesis is to test high availability functions of the Microsoft SQL server. In the created laboratory environment, we will test their capabilities in the event of failure of the primary server, resulting in automatic failover to secondary server.
