Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the photocatalytic production of hydrogen from an ammonia-water system using TiO2 photocatalysts. The photocatalysts were prepared by a calcination method at various temperatures and subsequently characterized using available and suitable techniques. Photocatalytic activity was measured in a photoreactor, with sampling carried out at two-hour intervals over a period of 8 hours. The most active sample was the one prepared at a calcination temperature of 350 °C, which produced 1485 μmol/gcat. According to the results of the characterization methods, the improved photocatalytic activity is attributed to the reduction of titanium and the formation of oxygen vacancies, which act as electron traps and reduce recombination reactions. The most active sample was approximately 2.8 times more active than pure TiO2.
