Abstract
Tesla is undoubtedly one of the most controversial companies in the capital markets, and investors who are bullish on Tesla will see it as representing the future of new energy vehicles, while investors who are not optimistic about Tesla will see a big problem with Tesla's money-burning model. And this article has discussed Tesla in more details.
The purpose of developing this thesis is to learn more about the financial situation of Tesla. In order to make more successful economic decisions, investors can detect changes in company’s trends by making a good use of financial analysis methodology. It helps investors to measure Tesla’s ability to issue dividends and its management. By analyzing the company's financial statements, evaluating its investment risk and predicting its (such as new- energy vehicles) future development, it can be roughly analyzed whether this company and even some other companies which engage in similar work are worth of investing. And if investors want to purchase new vehicles, they can know whether new-energy ones are better choices. Besides, the investors can learn more about Tesla’s status within the electric vehicles industry.
This thesis will give the information of Tesla’s financial condition by several chapters. In chapter 2, we are going to introduce the characterization of Tesla. In chapter 3, some essential financial analysis methodologies will be described. In chapter 4, some financial analysis and risk evaluation of the company will be done. And we choose data from three important statement of Tesla from 2014 to 2018. In chapter 5, there is a conclusion about this thesis and some insights about the results that conclude from chapter4.
