Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with improvement of reliability of data output from traceability database, resulting in reduction of cost for customers as well as for the Continental company, caused by complicated search for products and components information. This thesis's goal is to discover the reason behind large number of missing records on shipping of goods, and to propose a solution to this problem. Theoretical background, quality definition, identifiability and traceability in production, significance of hidden costs, and description of methods suitable for use in finding the causes of unreliability are elaborated. Practical part of the paper is carried out in accordance with the Six sigma method, brainstorming and Pareto analysis. The company's processes are analyzed in detail. Solutions and precautions to prevent further unreliability of the traceability database are described.
