Abstract

Main topic of this diploma thesis is the problematic of employee appraisal in a chosen organization. The objective of my diploma thesis is the evaluation of implemented appraisal system in a given organization. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part is based on literature. It is dealing not only with the key words, such as appraisal criteria, performance, rater, appraised, but also it considers employee appraisal methods, creation of appraisal system and it linkage to remuneration, development and education of employees. Each part is described in more detail. The content of practical part: characteristics of organization and implemented employee appraisal system. Research was executed by the questionnaire method. Following this part of work is analysis of implemented appraisal system. In the conclusion chapter there are recommendations and suggestions, which should lead to more sophisticated appraisal system. It is pertaining to ensure that the company: has quality raters, better informs its employees about the linkages to appraisal, implements written records about employee’s self-appraisal, revises set objectives for next period, creates a manual for raters and revises employee appraisal forms if significant changes occur in the company. Contribution’s clarification of the implemented appraisal system to employees and organization, explanation to linkage of remuneration, education and development, revision of set objectives, which should be SMART, will enable the organization to set their better functioning employee appraisal system, which strengthens organization culture, motivates employees, helps to harmonize the interests of all involved and has a unquestionable influence on the increased performance of whole organization.
