Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to present a particular private farmer and describe his business activities in detail. Part of this work was to allocate the subsidies being drawn and familiarize with the way he manages his business on the basis of obtaining subsidies. The first chapter focuses on three basic development periods of Czech agriculture, running within years 1989 and 1998. In this period the Czech agriculture undergoes several changes and it is being restructured. In the next years follows another development and from 2004, when the Czech Republic acceded to the European Union, its whole development is supported by European funds. Agriculture is made of several institutions and funds which focus on special types and particular areas. The second chapter focuses on the farmers’ thorough management which is supported by the national subsidies but predominantly by funds coming from the EU which are dependent on particular conditions needed to be fulfilled. Third chapter determines suggestions for making the work of the farmer more effective provided he receives subsidies from European Union funds.
