Abstract

This Bachelor study is about alternative sources of energy and their possible use in areas of telecommunication technology at S.D. corporation. The first part contains an introduction to a term „alternative source of energy“. The most common kinds of these sources will be described here and also their possible use in telecommunications. The second part is focused on technological and economical parameters of individual kinds of alternative sources. We will do a comparison of one alternative source in terms of its possible use in all kinds of variations and also we will focus on selection of alternative sources based on their use with an example of calculation of needed parameters for one chosen kind. The third part describes past and current alternative energy sources of telecommunication centers at S.D. corporation, specifically the telephone exchange building that is a centre of all telecommunication technologies and their peripheries of above mentioned company in city of Bilina. The forth part focuses on suggestions of measures that would increase dependability of an existing reserve system of energy supply to the telephone exchange building, that is an implementation of switching to a reserve supply of energy in case of an extended power outage.
