Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on the issue of planar multiband antennas, which can be applied in practice in the operation of 2x2 MIMO. The practical goal of this diploma thesis is to design, optimize and implement a model of a multiband antenna operating on the frequency bands of the 802.11 standard, ie. in the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands. The introduction of the diploma thesis summarizes the theoretical knowledge in the field of PAN/WAN networks, planar antennas and focuses on the choice of a suitable substrate, together with a survey of the current market supply. It also describes the design process in the simulation program CST Studio and subsequent optimization. Finally, the work deals with the actual practical implementation, verification of the correctness of the design by measurement and the overall evaluation of the diploma thesis. The result of the design is a fully functional multiband antenna, which is ready for use in practice.
