Abstract

The bachelor’s work is focused on the highest mountains of Krkonoše which is situated in the north part of the Czech Republic in the geological area called “Krkonoše-Jizera basement”. Krkonoše National Park is a conservation area according to its very differential geological basement, dynamic development in the past, affection of cold climate and subsequent warming. This warming resulted in a variety of habitats and rare species of plants and animals. Harrachov City is a major mountain resort in Krkonoše Mountains, which lies under Čertova Mountain in the valley of the river Mumlava. The work describes the history and present of this centre. The most famous history of the city is a glass production and mining extraction. Followed by hiking and beginning of skiing with the production of the first skis in the country. At present, tourism develops well, both for hiking and for confessors of winter sports. In conclusion of the bachelor’s work, I proposed a walk in the mountain resort of Harrachov, as well as a hiking trail for experienced hikers around the ridge parts.
