The diploma thesis is dealing with the static design of composite steel and concrete building structure. It focuses mainly on the determination of action loads acting on a structure and the calculation of the ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state of structural elements for an office building. Steel-concrete composite beams, steel columns, simple connections between the secondary and main beam, and steel bracing systems are designed in accordance
with Eurocodes. The steel I-Beam and concrete slab are assembled by shear connectors. This procedure enables us to have a composite bonding between the steel and concrete. This study also contains descriptions of the basis of composite structures and some types of joints in a structure. The final results achieved from hand calculations are compared with the results obtained from the software and their accuracy is confirmed.
