Abstract
Diploma thesis is focusing on explanation of shale gas extraction problems in the United States of America. Shale gas extraction is one of the most important event of the 21st century, combining horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing to generate large quantities of natural gas from less permeable shale. The presented work consists of the necessary theoretical apparatus, which offers a complex view of the shale gas in terms of its genesis, physical and chemical properties and types of gas generating reservoirs. The thesis also focuses on the world's most significant shale gas explosive, and mostly describing shale gas reservoirs in the United States, their extraction through the hydraulic fracturing and environmental impacts of this method. In the conclusion of the thesis, the existing shale gas extraction and the future development of mining is evaluated.
