Abstract
This thesis pursues identification of the potential of the State of Israel and the analysis of economic relations with the European Union. The State of Israel stands out for its economic focus on hi-tech, including software, communications, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and nanotechnology. It is based on specific field pursuing reflects of very nature of Israel's population on the first side and on the other side, close relationship to research and development in the country.
The content of this work will first define the Union's external action and briefly describe its creation until the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty. I will introduce main areas of external trade relations of the European Union and gradually move within the European Neighbourhood Policy. In this section I will briefly define the action of the Union for the Mediterranean, and focus on the possibilities of the State of Israel in this grouping. In the next chapter we shall briefly summarize Israel and focus on its economic performance and position within the Euromed Partnership. At the final section of this thesis I will analyze economic relations between the European Union and the State of Israel, and evaluate the benefits that arise from this partnership for the EU.
