Nové lokální kulturní centrum městské části Brno – Obřany

Abstract

The aim of the thesis is the proposal of a new cultural and social focal point of Brno-Obřany, which would exploit the potential of the buildings of a past textile factory and its surroundings. The urban part, which grew from a village over the years together with Maloměřice, does not have its own local center and this offers the possibility to create that center, and return it to the role of a crystallization point, which it undoubtedly was in the past. Valuable objects of the area have been preserved and supplemented with new features. Unsuitable objects were replaced by new ones. The work includes conversion of the main four-floor building of the textile factory – Esslerova cotton mill, which is a document of interwar industrial architecture – to a multi-functional building.
