Abstract

The diploma work explores the possibilities of using waste from metallurgical production and use scale for the preparation of pigment. The theoretical part of the paper describes the mechanism of scale, composition and method of treatment of oily mill scale. Other sections deal with pigments and glazes used in ceramic industry. They are described in detail raw materials for glazes, their characteristics and distribution. Pigments characterize their morphological and optical properties. The following are the possibilities of a transformation in the ceramic industry waste, namely waste glazes and pigments. It is essential to the selection of waste materials which are chemically related and can be adjusted to the required product. The experimental part focuses on the first part of the use of unadjusted and adjusted scale, both thermally and mechanically, and the second part is variously modified scale they added in raw ceramic material for the purpose of coloring mixtures. The treated pigment was then used in the preparation of glazes and applied to the ceramic body fired at different temperatures. In thus prepared color glazes were measured coloring depending on the firing temperature.
